Student Photography Contest

Our Student Photography Contest, which opens April 4th, 2016 (but students can register on our website as early as today) and concludes on June 30, 2016, is intended to engage student photographers and photojournalists in a worldwide community-building project in which they capture acts of kindness and compassion. These images will serve as reminders of all the good that occurs around the world on a daily basis, as well as inspirational devices that promote subsequent acts of kindness from both participants and the public. To that end, the images will be used in our other efforts to promote and inspire kindness, including:
  • Dispersion through our web and social media platforms
  • In printed/published materials
  • Empirical social science research to better understand how exposure to kindness impacts people physiologically, behaviorally and affectively.
Participants will be also eligible to win multiple cash prizes and have their work reviewed by distinguished judging panels in each of our submission categories.

Some of the judges generously donating their time and experience to this contest include:
  • Documentary Still Images: Ed Kashi (photojournalist and member of VII Photo Agency)
  • Documentary Film: Elaine Sheldon (documentary filmmaker and 2016 Chicken & Egg Breakthrough Filmmaker Awardee)
  • Illustrative Still Images: Vincent Versace (Nikon Ambassador and recipient of Computerworld Smithsonian Award and Shellenberg Fine Art award)

More information, including the full contest rules, technical specifications, and registration form can be found on our website: www.envisionkindness.org/programs.
