Aint–Bad Collaborations focuses on a selection of artists whose work was part of the 2018-2019 publication of Aint–Bad Issue No.13. The exhibition includes the work of Chicago-based photographer, Clarissa Bonet, whose images explore urban manifestations of light as a metaphysical experience, the embroidered, intimate photographs by Los Angeles-based artist Diane Meyer, an ambitious photo-collage installation by Aimée Beaubien, and images of the mundane and the mythical by Atlanta-based photographer Maury Gortemiller. Artists also include Rana Young, Julie Renee Jones, Andrew Curtis Waits, Jon Feinstein, Shinya Masuda, and Ashley Miller. Collaborations celebrates the medium of photography as a collaborative spirit uniting artist and subject, subject and viewer, within a widespread community of people and images with the power to spark the unexpected.

The National, Amtrak’s magazine, is a bimonthly magazine appearing in front of 5 million passengers each month. The magazine is found in the seatbacks of all Amtrak trains.

PHOTOGRAPHY SUBMISSION GUIDELINES FOR THE NATIONAL’s August/September issue:

-looking for both horizontal and vertical photos

We are more interested in wild nature, rather than urban environments, but will still consider photos of urban environments. Also interested in portraits and details of train. The photos should inspire people to travel to the locations shown. These photo essays are meant to be uplifting, inspiring and offer a fantasy of travel.
-some photos on-train or from the train windows
-all photos need to have accompanying caption information (who, what, when, where)
-all photos need to be available in high resolution but for the submission should be sent via email in low res.
-emailed submissions should include the photographer’s name, age, which school they attend, the caption information, in addition to the low res photos. I might have follow up questions, so please indicate the best means of getting in contact (phone call, text, email) and provide phone # if that is better than email.

Prerequisite(s): Any 700-level ARLH or ARTH course or permission of the department chair.
