Example of more information
I have 2 Sekonic L-308Xs light meters that I'm trying to sell, and I heard that your students tend to purchase them. I'm selling them for $175 each, which is $54 less than retail price. They are unused, still in box. If you could let your students know, that would be a huge help. If any of your students are interested, they can text me at (864)918-6097 or reach me on instagram at @artisticrepose. Thanks!

Great ELO Tuesday, April 2

This is a great ELO Tuesday, April 2, 6pm Jepson Center of Art. I saw the talk with Frank Stewart last term and went to the exhibition multiple times. He is back for the Savannah Music Festival.

April 2 at 6:00pm

Frank Stewart in Conversation with Dr. Walter O. Evans

Jepson Center

In partnership with the Savannah Music Festival, Telfair Museums presents a conversation between renowned photographer Frank Stewart and art collector Dr. Walter Evans. The show is significant and the panel Tuesday night should be as well.

Frank Stewart’s Nexus is the first major museum exhibition of photographer Frank Stewart’s work and centers on his sensitive and spontaneous approach to portraying world cultures and Black life in many forms—including music, art, travel, food, and dance. Organized into thematic groupings, the retrospective traces his explorations of life on the road and the trajectory of his stylistic journey, bringing together a comprehensive visual autobiography through over 100 black-and-white and color images. For more than six decades, Stewart has captured intimate and empathetic images of life experienced and observed across subjects, cities, and countries. He has drawn inspiration from trips to Africa and Cuba, travels as the lead photographer for the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, and powerful examinations of our ever-changing landscape.

Stewart’s photographs experiment with size, format, and printing. Less-explored aspects of his career include his more abstract and painterly Drawings series, inspired by his travels and his quest for self-understanding. Color has dominated Stewart’s photography for the past two decades, and in more recent, larger-scale images he forefronts the transforming environment. Always at the heart of his varied and evolving practice is a familiarity Stewart creates with the people and places that inhabit his works.

Portrait: Self and Others: Aline Smithson juror

Portrait: Self and Others

Deadline for submissions: Mar 11, 2024
Prints due: Apr 19, 2024
Exhibition: May 3 - May 24, 2024

Call for Entries

A great portrait reveals something of the depth, history, and emotional state of the subject, at least as captured in a single moment in time. Although many portraits zero in on the face, many fine images don't show the face at all, instead using light, gesture, context, and other nuances of expression to create an informative portrait.

For this exhibit we seek portraits, self- or otherwise, that go beyond the surface to explore a deeper vision of the subject and, hopefully, draw an emotional response from the viewer.

We are very pleased that Aline Smithson will jury the exhibit. She will select approximately 35 images for exhibition in the Middlebury gallery, and up to 40 for our Online gallery. All 75 selected images will be promoted on social media, reproduced in the exhibition print catalog, and remain permanently on our website, with links to photographer’s URL.

Two events Provisions Savannah Saturday and Sunday. Sunday requires registration.

Check out the Instagram info HERE

@_davidmolle_ of @atelierdemolle will be holding a pop up event next Saturday, March 2 selling a curated selection antique, vintage, and thrift. A portion of the profits will be donated to @adoptanativeelderofficial , a non-profit org that serves to help reduce extreme poverty and hardship facing traditional Elders living on the Navajo Reservation.

David Mollé is a new york city based photographer, interior designer, and private client antiques dealer. He is also a @scaddotedu alumni and dear friend of ours. He designed the Provisions storefront and we are so excited to have him back in the space for this special event.

Come check out the sale from 11:00-4:00pm next Saturday at Provisions.

We can’t wait to have artist and educator @graceannleadbeater lead us in a still life workshop on Sunday morning, March 3. Grace Ann will walk participants through the still life making by sharing the process of her ongoing photo series, “The Objects of Others,” and doing an in-person demonstration. Attendees will receive a still life bundle (all are welcome to bring their own objects, too) for the morning to design a final composition. Attendees will photograph their final compositions and then receive an 8 x 10 print of them after the workshop. Think two hours of playing and meditating and building and documenting! We will have @origincoffee.bar and @auspiciousbaking.co treats to sip and snack on during the workshop.

Hope to see you there.
