Ceramics Surface Design is being
offered as a 5-week class for the first half of the summer quarter. . This
class will be doing a collaborative project with Fibers 312: Screen Printing,
exploring the relationship between form and surface patterns.
Through a variety of studio assignments
and in-class exercises, this course covers how ceramic surface designs are
created, applied and used on mass produced, utilitarian and sculptural objects.
The ability to use decorating processes such as decals, wax resist, templates,
silk screening and other printing techniques creates an understanding of common
ceramics industry practices. Students build a range of technical skills and
explore aesthetic approaches to ceramic surface design Prerequisite(s): CERA
