Teaching Position Announcement: Keimyung University, South Korea

Position: Full-time Instructor / Assistant Professor (depending upon experience)

Contract period: 2 years (Renewable)

Institution: Department of Video & Animation, College of Arts, Keimyung University

Location: Daegu, Korea

The Department of Video & Animation in the College of Arts at Keimyung University invites applicants for a renewable 2-year non-tenure track faculty position (with possibility of tenure-track upon review later). Preference will be given to Candidates who can speak Chinese as well as English.

Keimyung University, founded in 1954 to provide Christian higher education, is a well-established academic institution in Daegu, Korea. Keimyung University proudly leads the globalization of the region, raising future international leaders and experts who can contribute to the world peace and welfare. (Keimyung University faculty come from various backgrounds and does not discriminate against other religious beliefs).

Required Qualifications

Candidates should have an earned Master’s degree in Video, Animation or Interactive Design which is related with all area of basic design (Digital Art, Digital Media, Graphic Design, Motion Graphic, Typography, Illustration and so on). Candidates are expected to demonstrate excellence in teaching; an ability to collaborate with department and university faculty members; a commitment to supervising and advising students; and culturally open-minded to multicultural environment.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will have primary responsibilities including teaching undergraduate courses, advising students, and serving on faculty committees.

It wouldn’t hurt to also attach a letter explaining why you would like to work in Korea. I’m one of two SCAD graduates at Keimyung University. I’d love to have another SCAD graduate here.

DEADLINE: ASAP. The position needs to be filled immediately. For technical purposes we are saying Dec. 1, but applicants are encouraged to send their documents yesterday.

STARTDATE: March 1, 2012. Spring semester is the first semester in Korea. Semesters are sixteen weeks long. Your contract period will be March 1, 2012 – February 28, 2014.
