The SCAD Museum of Art is honored to share the artwork of iconic fashion photographer Bill Cunningham with the exhibition "Grand Divertissement à Versailles, Vintage Photographs by Bill Cunningham." Featuring exclusive images from the 1973 fashion show "The Battle of Versailles," the exhibition showcases Cunningham’s unique perspective on this epochal event in fashion history. Having made indelible contributions to fashion journalism for more than a half-century, Cunningham is remembered reverentially as staff writer and photographer for The New York Times.

On Thursday, September 15, Model Nancy North will be giving the gallery talk at 4:30 p.m. to discuss Bill Cunningham’s work featured in our newest exhibition “Grand Divertissement à Versailles: Vintage Photographs by Bill Cunningham.” As a model in the 1973 fashion show known as the Battle of Versailles, North has first-hand experience of the historic day depicted in the exhibition’s photographs. She will share personal stories, as well as her vast knowledge of the fashion industry, designers and artists in conversation with Alexandra Sachs, executive director of SCAD FASH Museum of Fashion + Film and Atlanta exhibitions.

Also, on Thursday, Sept. 15, join us for the lecture in the Museum Theater at 6 p.m. presented by Mangue Banzima’s (B.F.A., fashion marketing and management, 2014) on the legacy of Bill Cunningham: "In the Spirit of the Man in Blue: Picture Taking on the Street."

The reception will take place after the lecture from 7pm-8pm.
