Call for Submissions!
Swerve Literary Journal, a student-run literary and arts
journal at the University of Mary Washington, is seeking submissions from now
until April 2nd, 2013. We are accepting exceptional works of art from
genres including but not limited to: visual arts, photography,
multimedia/music, poetry, SHORT fiction, and nonfiction. We welcome submissions
regarding all topics, providing they are in keeping with the mission statement
below:
There is no straight course. The path is warped and twisted. You can change your course or you can
change yourself, but you have to swerve either way. Sometimes when you swerve
to avoid something, you swerve into a new direction. Swerving can even happen
within the self.
Where do you go when you deviate from where you once thought you’d go?
How does this abrupt and unexpected swiveling enhance a life…and a self?
We invite you to ruminate on these questions and genres, and to play
with the digital landscape in ways that you think would befit the interplay
between and among them. We welcome pieces that bend, defy, or help reshape
“traditional” genres, as well.

regarding submission, please visit us at swerve.umwblogs.org. If you have any
questions or concerns, you may contact us at swervelit@gmail.com. Thank
you for considering Swerve!
