Silver Eye Center for Photography announces a call for entries for our 8 x 8 PHOTO PARTY , a fabulous showcase and celebration of the photography in all of us, on Friday, May 17, 2013, 7:00 - 11:00 pm.



This special event features an exhibition and sale of hundreds of 8 x 8 inch square photographs submitted from around the world, great food and signature cocktails, DJs spinning all night, vintage photo booths, and much more. All proceeds directly benefit Silver Eye Center for Photography, Pittsburgh's nationally-acclaimed non-profit space for contemporary photography. FREE AND OPEN TO EVERYONE

    • The 8 x 8 PHOTO PARTY exhibition and sale is open to everyone regardless of age or skill level - professionals, amateurs, students, you!


    • There are no entry fees to participate.

    • Only one digital submission per person so select the photograph that best reflects your own creative spirit and unique take on the world.

    • We welcome submissions taken with digital cameras, film cameras, or cell phone cameras.

ENTRY PROCESS

    • Fill out the registration form completely.


    • Silver Eye Center for Photography will print all images to one consistent size, 7 3/4 x 7 3/4 inches with a 1/4 inch white border on all sides.

    • Your image must be square. If you do not have photo-editing software on your computer, we recommend Pixlr ( http://pixlr.com/express/ ). For smartphone photo-editing software, we recommend Snapseed ( http://www.snapseed.com/ ) or Camera+ ( http://campl.us/ ).


    • Your image should be at least 2,000 x 2,000 pixels and saved as a JPG, PNG, or GIF. Rename your image file with your First and Last Name.

    • Submit your registration form and image file via email to 8x8submissions@silvereye.org . Please include your First and Last Name in the subject line of the email.


SUBMISSION DEADLINE

    • The registration form and image must be received via email by Saturday, May 4, 2013, at 11:59:59 pm EST.



PRINTING AND PRESENTATION

    • Silver Eye Center for Photography will print all work, which will be displayed without mattes and frames and will be hung as wall grids.


    • Photographs will be displayed without labels, only with numbers. Your name will be revealed at the time of purchase and the buyer will receive Part 1 of the registration form, which gives your name and location, print title and date, and an optional email address.

SALES

    • All work will be available for sale at the 8 x 8 PHOTO PARTY for $20.00 per print. Sales directly benefit Silver Eye Center for Photography's community education programs.


    • By submitting your image, you permit Silver Eye Center for Photography to print your work for sale and to crop the image as needed, if it is not square.

    • Unsold images will not be returned but may be displayed and/or sold at a future Silver Eye Center for Photography fundraiser.

USE OF IMAGES/COPYRIGHT

    • By submitting your photograph, you declare that you are the authorized holder of the copyright (or authorized by the holder) to submit a photograph to the 8 x 8 PHOTO PARTY exhibition and sale.


    • By submitting your photograph, you further guarantee that, to the best of your knowledge, no third party can claim rights or raise objections to the exhibition, publication, distribution, and sale of the material submitted.

    • By submitting your photograph, you permit Silver Eye Center for Photography to use your work for marketing and promotional purposes directly related to the 8 x 8 PHOTO PARTY . This may include, but is not limited to, print and online publications, press releases, announcements, stories, social media, and advertising.


    • The artist retains all copyright for their artwork.


    • At its sole discretion, Silver Eye Center for Photography reserves the right to disqualify a submission that contains any sexually explicit, disparaging, defamatory, libelous, obscene, or other inappropriate content.
