Chief art critic for the New York Times since 1990, Michael Kimmelman will present a lecture at Trustees Theater, which will be followed by a reception and book signing at Red Gallery. One of his books is titled Portraits: Talking With Artists at the Met, the Modern, the Louvre and Elsewhere, published in 1998. It grew from interviews with 18 artists in museums around the world. The artists included Balthus, Francis Bacon, Cindy Sherman and Kiki Smith, and the tours explored their reactions to the art and to the museums. Kimmelman has a history degree from Yale University and a graduate degree from Harvard University, where he also taught. Co-sponsored by Trustees Lecture Series and the SCAD Museum of Art.
