SPESE Regional News

I am forwarding emailed information from Alumnus Mark Malloy regarding the upcoming regional conference.

During the first week of November, you have two important opportunities to take part in determining the future of our society. November 4 is the national election and November 7 is day one of the three-day regional SPE conference at Randolph Community College in Asheboro, NC.

OK, maybe I’m caught up in all the hyperbole of the election campaigns, but we do have a great lineup of presenters for the conference. Among them are: Tom Rankin, Director, The Center for Documentary Studies, Duke University; Dr. Richard Zakia, Author, Professor Emeritus, Rochester Institute of Technology; Joyce Tenneson, photographer and author; Pam Crist, photographer and custom black-and-white lab owner; Johnny Horne, photographer and astronomer. Plus much more! For more information, check out the conference blog at http://spese.blogspot.com/. For a substantial savings, be sure to register early by October 7.

Members Exhibition
You also have the opportunity to participate in a student/faculty member’s exhibition. The show was such a success last year in Savannah, that we decided to bring it back for this year’s conference in Asheboro.

The deadline for submissions has been extended until October 3. All submissions can be made online, so it’s really easy to participate. Accepted works are not due until October 31, so you have plenty of time to prepare accepted pieces for the exhibition. Exhibition details are available at http://spese.blogspot.com/2008/02/studentfaculty-exhibition.html

We look forward to seeing you at Randolph Community College in Asheboro!
