Jennifer Folsom exhibit, Colorado

Jennifer Folsom to Exhibit Bare Witness Photographs in Solo Exhibition
Fort Collins, CO – April 19, 2018 – Savannah College of Art and Design MFA candidate Jennifer Folsom will present her thesis body of photographic work, Bare Witness, in a solo exhibition at Art Lab in Fort Collins, CO. The work will be on display from May 4 through May 6, 2018, and a public reception for the artist will be held on May 4 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm.
Folsom’s dynamic work exposes the male nude and is an exploration of gender, power dynamics, and breaking from traditional roles. Folsom’s photographs reveal interactions in which the stereotypical tropes of looking and being seen are rejected and new definitions and boundaries are proposed.
Folsom states, “This series comes at a pivotal time in our culture. As women seek to define the evolution of their roles in relationships, my work creates a dialog about how we see men, specifically nude men. Creating a conversation about the beauty and complexity of the male form seen through a woman’s eyes is an underrepresented part of the current discourse that surrounds male/female interactions and perceptions.”
Art Lab started in 2009 as a small group of creatives wishing to turn vacant storefronts into vibrant art spaces. The Art Lab is located at 239 Linden Street in Fort Collins, Colorado. The gallery is open Friday from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, and 3:00 to 7:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday. The gallery telephone number is 970-829-1953.
