Call for Donated Artwork for ADA

My name is Annie Peterson and I am a graduate student in Arts Administration. I volunteer with the American Diabetes Association (ADA) in Savannah. The ADA is putting together its second annual "Artfully Done" event on February 5, 2009, an art auction whose proceeds benefit the organization.

I am looking for professional quality (either faculty or graduate student) work that could be donated to the ADA for this event. Donors will be invited to attend the event, and if their donation form is submitted by January 9, their names will be included on the formal invitation. The ADA will give participating artists a general letter of donation so that they will be able to receive a tax deduction for the value of the artwork rather than only the cost of materials. At the event, donors are welcome to mingle with other artists as well as patrons, and should feel free to promote their artwork &/or upcoming shows.

If you do choose to donate, please submit the attached donation form as soon as you know which piece you would like to donate. Artwork can be dropped off at the ADA (address below), picked up (if local), or mailed (ADA may be able to cover the cost of shipping-- please submit dimensions and weight to Maria Center, contact info. below).

If you have any questions about this event, please contact myself (apeter24@student.scad.edu or annempeterson@gmail.com) or Maria Center (contact info. below).

Attached are an information sheet about the event, and a donation form. Please forward this email to any professional artists that you know who would be interested in participating!

Thank you,
Annie Peterson

Workshop Teaching Opportunity for Grad Students and/or Alumni

Admissions has launched Community Education, winter 2009. Community Education is a program open to adults and teens. We are loosely modeling this program after the successful ACA Community Education program that SCAD continued in Atlanta. More details may be found at www.scad.edu/ce.
Our initial series, “Handmade at SCAD,” focuses on fibers and jewelry design workshops. For the spring quarter, we would like to build on this, plus add some traditional studio art workshops. The current format is solely one day workshops that meet on Saturdays. We prefer to hire current SCAD graduate students and SCAD alumni to teach these workshops.
The deadline for interested instructors to contact Admission for spring quarter is December 31, 2008. Interested instructors may forward their resume and workshop proposals directly to me at ktrantha@scad.edu or to savannahce@scad.edu.
