Student Artists' Book Competition

Calling all SCAD students! Enter up to three artists' books and have a chance to win purchase prizes, your book added to the Artists' Book Collection, and a spot in a juried exhibition!
What is an artists' book and what can I enter? An artists' book is a work of art that utilizes, challenges, defies, references, or embraces the book as a mode of artistic expression. It can be sculptural, traditional; textual, visual; personal, political; drawn, sewn; conceptual or literal. If you can make a successful argument in your artist statement* that your work is a book, it will compete! We are looking for fine press, performative, altered, and object books. Scrolls, pop-ups, zines, comics, hardback, paperback, perfect bound, and unbound books are all welcome. Categories will be dictated by entries received. This list is not inclusive!
Collaborative entries are encouraged! Did your class or group make an artists' book or box of minicomics/zines/miniature books?
*New this year: a brief artist statement will be required with each entry, up to 250 words.
Restrictions: No food, hazardous material, or books requiring external equipment (i.e. URLs and flash drives)
ATLANTA STUDENTS: entries due at the ACA Library front desk by 5 p.m. on May 6, 2016.
SAVANNAH STUDENTS: entries due at the Jen Library Special Collections by 5 p.m. on April 29, 2016.
