“Modern Love” call for submissions

The SCAD exhibitions department invites SCAD students, professors, staff and alumni to submit entries for the 2016 summer sales exhibition “Modern Love”, on view at SCAD Savannah’s Gutstein Gallery from May 31, 2016 through August 20, 2016.

The title “Modern Love” is drawn from the life and work of David Bowie, an artist known for pushing boundaries in art, music, film and stage. The curators have chosen this theme for the range of ideas and emotions the phrase—and Bowie's impact on the creative fields—evokes, and encourage artists to submit work that explores the meaning of the phrase to them personally. What is "love," what is "modern" in the summer of 2016?

The “Modern Love” call for submissions welcomes artists making work from a variety of disciplines, including but not limited to painting, photography, sculpture, fibers, video, animation, drawing and printmaking. Artists are encouraged to take varied approaches to the exhibition’s theme and reflect on topics and ideas as broad as modernism, love, technology, retro, the future, Gen X and millennials, among others. In the final curated juried selection, this exhibition will feature the work of a wide range of SCAD artists who work across media and explore an equally diverse range of subject matter.

The submission deadline is midnight on Sunday April 24
