Hey Hot Shot

Photographers, Hey, Hot Shot! Second Edition 2012 is in full swing, with great entries coming in from all around the globe, all vying for the $10K Grand Prize. Your chance to enter for $60 is slipping away, however. On Thursday, October 4th, the entry fee will increase to $70, and it will rise again incrementally throughout the remainder of the competition. The Student Photographic Society (SPS)
Since 1999, SPS has been providing photography students with career building resources, networking opportunities and valuable industry information that can help on the road to becoming a professional photographer. SPS is the student association of the Alliance of Visual Artists (AVA), which includes Professional Photographers of America (PPA), the world’s largest nonprofit association for professional photographer

This year Imaging USA, the largest annual convention and expo organized by pro photographers, for pro photographers will be held in Atlanta, GA January 20-22, 2013 at the Georgia World Congress Center. Any SPS member is allowed to attend the convention and Photo EXPO for free! SPS Membership is $29.00 for one year and comes with additional benefits including equipment insurance, a monthly digital edition of Professional Photographer Magazine, and online resources and discounts.

We also provide SPS members the chance to volunteer at Imaging USA! Student Volunteers get free access to all programs and parties, a hands-on portfolio review by some of the best pros in the business, and free lodging at one of the host hotels. (A $500 value.) *Continuous live wet plate/tintype portraits of guests will take place on site - images can be viewed within minutes of exposure

*Opportunities to get information about internships (both with Ellen and with the Center for Alternative Photography in New York)

Journal Journey Road Trip South China

SCAD is offering an exciting opportunity to experience and learn in mainland China.
Journal Journey is a book-arts road trip through south china from Hong Kong to Dali,Yunnan via Guangzhou and Kunming.
The trip which will focus on experiencing China and the creation of artist books is lead by award winning artist and illustrator Henrik Drescher and sculptor and picture maker Wu Wing Yee.
Professor Scott Dietrich will be the faculty liaison for the trip. The trip is not a credit course however Savannah photography students could do an elective credit independent study with Scott Dietrich.
