Explore the meaning of 'Modern Love'

The SCAD exhibitions department invites SCAD students, professors, staff and alumni to submit entries for the 2016 summer sales exhibition, "Modern Love."

The title of the exhibition is drawn from the first track on legendary singer-songwriter and actor David Bowie's album "Let's Dance." Artists are invited to submit work that explores what the phrase coined by Bowie, who passed away earlier this year, means to them emotionally and ideologically. What is "love" and what is "modern" in the summer of 2016?

Submissions may include works created by utilizing a variety of disciplines, including but not limited to painting, photography, sculpture, fibers, video, animation, drawing and printmaking. Artists are encouraged to take varied approaches to the exhibition's theme and reflect on topics and ideas as broad as modernism, love, technology, retro, the future, Generation X and millennials, among others. The final curated juried selection will showcase this range of media and subject matter.

Submission deadline: midnight, Sunday, April 24, 2016
