Student Artist’s Book Competition

Unbound by conventional standards, artist’s books play with the dichotomy between traditional cover-to-cover tomes and new mediums of self-expression. Whether you’re challenging or embracing the book as an art form, submissions of all binds are encouraged — sculptural, conceptual, literal, atypical — just include an artist statement for works expanding the boundaries. Winning books will be purchased for SCAD Libraries’ growing collection.

This competition is open to SCAD students only. Collaborations are welcome. Enter up to three works per person or per group. Fill out the required forms and submit your entry by Friday, April 28.

Submission requirements

  • Enter up to three books per person or group.
  • All entries must have the accompanied online form and cover sheet.
  • Books made up to one year prior to the competition date are eligible.
  • An artist statement (2–4 sentences) is required for each entry.
  • No food, hazardous materials, or books requiring external equipment such as URL or flash drives.

Submission guidelines

  • Fill out the SCAD Artist’s Book Competition Entry Form for each entry, including your artist statement.
  • Print and fill out the Student Artist’s Book Competition Cover Sheet and attach to each entry.
  • Drop off your submission(s) with the cover sheet(s) at Jen Library or SCAD Atlanta Library by 5:30 p.m., Friday, April 28. If submitting by mail, send to SCAD Atlanta Library at 1600 Peachtree St. NW, Atlanta, Ga. 30309, USA. Be sure to accommodate for shipping time.
