Exhibition opening: Echo’s Reflections
Photographer
and SCAD Master of Fine Art candidate
Jamie Hankin will be showing his thesis project, Echo’s Reflections, at the Oglethorpe Gallery in Savannah from
February 18th through February 22nd, 2016.
Combining
elements of Dutch Vanitas painting, surrealism and cubism, these photographs
explore the concept of beauty and the transience of life through a medium which
freezes time. Ultimately, this work seeks the redemption of beauty from the
purgatory of contemporary critical theory.
Jamie Hankin
(b.1960) received a BFA in photography from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY in
1982 and anticipates receiving an MFA in photography from the Savannah College
of Art and Design in May of 2016. A successful long-time commercial
photographer, Mr. Hankin is currently Director of Studio Photography for Saks
Fifth Avenue. Previously, he has worked for global clients such as J. Crew,
Nike, Foot Locker, LL Bean and Macy’s. He has also worked for editorial clients
such as Vogue and Interview magazine.
