What is the OCA Lofts Artist-in-Residence program? Two times a year, OCA invites one artist to live and create art in Ogden, UT for two to three months. Each residency cycle includes two out of state (nationally or internationally) artists. Each resident receives an OCA Loft space, housing, a $1,500 per month living stipend, up to a $5,000 production budget, and $5,000 honorarium, and the support of OCA staff.Resident artists are given two to three months to create new work that must result in an exhibition in the Ogden Contemporary Arts Center and/or one public art piece within the Ogden community. The work created for the arts center is exhibited for two to three months. Any public art work created will be permanent. All art made during the residency belongs to the artist. OCA will provide a professional photographer and videographer to capture the process and create content to build the Artists portfolio. The mission of the program is to provide artists the time and resources to ignite, inspire and influence not only the artist, but our community. During the program, the artists are expected to engage with the Northern Utah community; including but not limited to local universities and youth programs. Opportunities to engage will be coordinated by OCA and will include open studio nights and art talks. What happens to the artists’ work? The Artists will own all work created. OCA will have full access to any content collected during the residence program; including but not limited to any written copy, photography and videography. OCA has the rights to utilize the content indefinitely for promotional materials, funding materials, OCA websites, archives, and digital media outlets.
