SCAD FASH will be hosting a Facebook Live https://www.facebook.com/SCADFASH/ tour next Thursday May 4, at 9:30 a.m., featuring a tour of Omar Victor Diop's "Project Diaspora"http://www.scadfash.org/exhibitions/omar-victor-diop with the exhibition's curator Storm Van Rensburg!
The exhibition features 18 photographs that explore the often neglected, but deeply entangled historical relationships between Africa and the rest of the world, including trade, early diplomatic encounters and the legacy of slavery. Diop's works of art focus on the representation of Africans in Western and Asian art history from the 15th to the 19th centuries, as he recreates portraits of individuals who became prominent figures in their unique contexts.
