About the exhibition
Jack Leigh: Full Circle, Low Country Photographs, 1972-2004 presents a rare, in-depth look into the career of a seminal photographer who devoted much of his life to capturing the traditional and changing landscapes, industries and people of Savannah and the low country. Leigh is perhaps most renowned for Midnight (1993), the photograph commissioned for the cover of John Berendt's novel, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.
Moving beyond this singular image, Jack Leigh: Full Circle, Low Country Photographs, 1972-2004 presents Leigh's work alongside mid-20th-century artists who inspired him, as well as contemporary artists influenced by his indelible legacy. Featured artists include William Christenberry, Walker Evans, Christine Hall, Marcus Kenney, Helen Levitt, Tobia Makover, Sally Mann, Lisa M. Robinson, Eva Rubinstein, George Tice and more.
The exhibition is on view July 15 through Oct. 2 and is generously supported by Mrs. Robert O. Levitt.
