IMBALANCE- Call for entry

Greetings from ISO Magazine, New York University’s student-run biannual photography publication. ISO is typically 80-100 pages filled by historical, critical, and creative writing about photography in addition to interviews with student and professional photographers. The magazine also features a Gallery, which curates student images around a predetermined theme. We want to extend the breadth and nuance of submissions by reaching out to photography and imaging programs beyond NYU. We invite your program’s undergraduate students to respond to ISO’s Spring 2013 theme:

IMBALANCE: a photograph may be able to suggest a state of flux; the changes inherent to people, place, and socio-political landscape.

In the current global ebb and flow of power, resources, technology and ideas an image may be able suggest that which is absent but exists nonetheless; a photograph may disrupt or unify the clarity of a situation, isolating it within a frame. ISO asks you to reflect on that which is unstable, changing, and in process. Please submit a portfolio, selections from a series, or individual images that reflect your understanding of the current state of things, perhaps along the lines of:

turbulence
injustice
power
proportion
composition
asymmetry
dynamism
ambiguity
chaos
existentialism
confusion
consumption
pollution
destruction
imperfection
abstraction
disruption
dislocation
obstruction

Please respond to the theme by sending a small portfolio, series, or stand-alone images to ISO’s photo editors at isophotoeditor@gmail.com

1) 1-10 images *
2) Name, school, major, and expected graduation
3) The title and date of images
