SPESE Regional Grant


The southeast region of SPE is offering four $1000 grants to members in the following categories:
1 Undergraduate Student Grant
1 Graduate Student Grant
1 Adjunct Faculty Grant
1 Regular Member Grant

The deadline for Submission is June 10, 5pm EST.

Award: The Southeast region of SPE would like to offer four grants of $1000 each an undergraduate student, a graduate student, an adjunct instructor, and a regional member that is not a student or adjunct instructor. Grant recipients are asked to give a short presentation about their grant proposal and planned use of the funds, (15 minutes), at the next SPESE regional conference in Daytona Beach, November 2-4, 2012.

Eligibility:
All applicants must be current SPE members or become a member prior to the application due date.
All student applicants must be enrolled as a full-time student in a 2 or 4-year undergraduate or graduate program within the Southeast SPE Region (2011-2012 year).
All adjunct applicants must teach at a 2 or 4-year program within the southeast SPE Region.

Calendar: Deadline June 10, 5pm EST, 2012, Notification by July 1, 2012
Fee: $20.00 entry fee needs to be received at the SPE National Office by June 10, 2012.

Juror: Dana Fritz is an Associate Professor in the Department of Art & Art History at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She holds a BFA from Kansas City Art Institute and an MFA from Arizona State University. Her honors include an Arizona Commission on the Arts Fellowship, a Nebraska Arts Council/Lincoln Arts Council Impact Grant, a Rotary Foundation Group Study Exchange to Japan and Juror’s Awards in national exhibitions. University of Nebraska-Lincoln has awarded several grants from the Office of Research and the Hixson-Lied Endowment that have supported her photographic projects in Europe and Japan. Together with her husband Larry Gawel, she operates the Workspace Gallery in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Applicant Submission Requirements:
Applications must be emailed to Daniel Kariko, Karikod@ecu.edu by the deadline listed above. The subject of the email must state SPESE Grant and their classification (undergraduate, graduate, adjunct, or member).
Submissions should include the following:
•10 Images of recent work, (individual jpgs, no slide shows, PDF, Power point, or otherwise), with a WORD document identification page listing full name, email, phone, mailing address, institution affiliation, (if applicable). The Image Identification should match the images submitted with title, process, size, and date for each image submitted. The word document should also include a short statement about the work including a short proposal stating applicant’s use of the award in relation to the work submitted. The statement/proposal should not exceed 250 words.
•A scan of current student/faculty ID, (if applicable).

Image Guidelines
: All images JPG format, size 72ppi, longest dimension 1024 pixels. Please title each image with number corresponding to identification page, underscore, last name, underscore, title. (example: 01_Lastname_title.jpg)
