The 10th edition of the Julia Margaret Cameron Award for Women Photographers ENTER
The Gala Awards and the Biennial of Fine Art and Documentary Photography announces a Call for Entries to women photographers worldwide to submit works to the 10th edition of the Julia Margaret Cameron Award.
This awards qualify to be selected to participate in the 5th edition of the Biennial of Fine Art and Documentary Photography which will be held as Prague Foto Biennale to be held in Prague in September-October, 2018.
Eligibility: Open to all women photographers 18 years old or older, professional and amateur, from any country of the world.
Submission Deadline: March 7, 2017
Juror: Steve McCurry, Magnum Photos.
Steve McCurry has been one of the most iconic figures in contemporary photography for more than thirty five years. McCurry's images were among the first to show the world the brutality of the Russian invasion in Afghanistan. Since his work in Afghanistan, McCurry has gone on to create unforgettable images over six continents and numerous countries. His body of work spans conflicts, vanishing cultures, ancient traditions and contemporary culture alike - yet always retains the human element that made his celebrated image of the Afghan Girl such a powerful image. McCurry has been recognized with some of the most prestigious awards including the Robert Capa Gold Medal, National Press Photographers Award, and an unprecedented four first prize awards from the World Press Photo contest amongst dozens of others.
Steve was the Special Guest of the 4th edition of the Biennial of Fine Art & Documentary Photography (Berlin Foto Biennale) exhibiting his Retrospective Asia, a Life in PIctures, curated by Magnum Photos and Julio Hirsch-Hardy.
Awards:
One Photographer will be Recipient of the Julia Margaret Cameron Award, and will be invited to exhibit and attend the 5th edition of the Biennial of Fine Art and Documentary Photography to be held in Prague in September-October, 2018. The Gala Awards will pay her round trip couch ticket to Prague, and $1,000 for lodging expenses. Her exhibition expenses will be borne by The Gala Awards.
Two Runner Ups Photographers will receive a prize of $1,000, and will be automatically selected to exhibit at the 5th edition of the Biennial of Fine Art and Documentary Photography.
Each category winner will receive a cash award of $100.
Artist Notification: May 15, 2017 (results will be emailed to all participants by email.)
Submissions Fees
SINGLE IMAGES: $45 for up to 3 single images , and $10 for each additional image.
SERIES: $60 for one series (composed of 3 to 5 images), and $ 30 for each additional series.
There is no limitation regarding the total of Single Images and Series to be submitted. Single images or Series can be submitted to more than one category buy count as separate entries. Single images and Series will be juried together, and individual images of a series can be isolated from the series for the selection process, although a series has to be a coherent body of work.
