SCAD presents an exhibition in conjunction with the January 2016 release of Port City Review, the university’s annual student-juried literary arts journal.
The show features works from 40 student artists whose pieces appear in the journal. All artwork in the exhibition is available for purchase, including photography, painting, fibers and illustration, among other disciplines.
The 2015 edition of the book will debut at a reception for the exhibition on Jan. 15, 2016, and features more than 100 artists. The works represent some of the best artists from all four SCAD locations.
“We had more than 800 artists submit to this year’s Port City Review,” said Dustin Dahlman, the journal’s creative director, who is a senior graphic design major from Grafton, Wisconsin. “Port City Review is unique in that students lead all aspects of the journal’s production, including its judging, design and marketing.”
Port City Review is in its fourth year of production. It has twice won the College Media Association Pinnacle Award, the highest honor in college media. The SCAD Student Media Center oversees the journal.
In 2014 the Port City Review unveiled a digital tablet app that showcases digital works —including motion media, video and sound design pieces — in addition to the journal’s annual print edition. The updated digital version will be available for download in Winter 2016.
