For one in five Georgians, poverty is a daily reality – with basic necessities like food and shelter far from guaranteed. And with one of the lowest rates of social mobility in the country, it’s likely that many Georgia children born into poverty will never escape.
To bring greater visibility to this issue, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Georgia (SVdP) is creating 100 Profiles of Poverty – a photo gallery depicting the plight of Georgia’s most vulnerable populations.
The exhibit, which coincides with our 100th anniversary in fall 2014, will serve as a thought platform for discussion and incite a clear call for others to join our fight to break the cycle of poverty. Top photographers from across the state are participating – coming together to capture the challenges facing this population as well as moments of hope and progress.
