The Department of Art invites applications for the position of Tenure track - Assistant Professor
of Art/Photography beginning August 1, 2010. VSU is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Art and Design. Valdosta State University is a regional university serving 41 counties in South Georgia with a student enrollment of approximately 12,100. Valdosta is a city of approximately 50,000 located just north of the Florida state line on Interstate 75, is served by a regional airport, and is within a two-hour drive of Jacksonville and Tallahassee, Florida. Required Qualifications:
MFA in Photography by August 1, 2010
Record of or capability for conducting scholarly/creative research
Ability to teach beginning and upper level courses in Photography
Experience working with and teaching traditional wet media and digital photographic media
Interest in advancing digital photography offerings within the art program
Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses in photography and related art courses, advising students, department and university service, and other program related activities.
Areas of instruction include traditional and digital photography, and other courses as needed. Faculty members are expected to remain current in the knowledge and practice of photography.
