The Ides of March

The Ides of March have come, and they carry tidings of betrayal and treason. Desotorow Gallery is issuing an open call for all works of devious nature for the forthcoming “Ides of March” show.

Submissions are due: March 16th by 5pm

The show will open on March 30th from 6-9pm

Eligibility: This juried exhibition is open to national and international artists (professional, emerging, and student).

Media/Genre: Open to works of all genres and media.

Entry Fee: You may submit up to five pieces for a non-refundable entry fee of $30. The entry fee may be paid online or with cash, check, or money order (checks and money orders should be made payable to DESOTOROW GALLERY).

File Names: Artist’s last name followed by the entry number (i.e. Smith01.jpg, Smith02.jpg)

File Size: Images must be saved in a HIGH QUALITY JPEG format at 72 DPI and no smaller than 1000 pixels in any direction.

Ground Glass Exhibit Opens Friday at Little Beasts

Come out to Ground Glass the exhibition for the Large Format II class.
The opening will be from 7-10pm on Friday, March 9th at Little Beasts Gallery, 1522 Bull St, Savannah, Georgia.

Wedding Photographer needed

Wedding on April 14th.

I would like someone to shoot my wedding which is under the Majestic Oak tree. It will be no longer than 45 minutes. I would also like for them to shoot my reception that will be in my backyard on Wilmington Island. They would need to be there for 2-3 hours. The wedding is at 2pm and the reception will start at 5pm. It will be paid and will be negotiated with the chosen photographer. All I will need is a CD with all RAW images or to download them from there CF card. Please contact me at mls@mindeestokes.com with examples of their work.

Scholarship application process opens April

Students can apply for institutional scholarships on MySCAD April 1-30. Students who have completed the application will be considered for all eligible scholarships.

Portfolios are not accepted with the initial application. Portfolios and/or interviews may be required of finalists. Scholarship recipients are determined by June 1. Contact student financial services at iascholq@scad.edu with questions.

Submit to District

What we do as artists is nothing short of magical and fantastical. Now it’s time to show it off!

District Quarterly is an award-winning, submission-based student-produced magazine published through the Student Media Center at SCAD Savannah. Each quarter, students submit work that falls under the selected theme.

The theme for the spring 2012 issue is Magic, and we want you to submit.

Submissions are due by midnight March 13. Send submissions to quarterly@scaddistrict.com.

Guidelines:
Visual content must be 300 dpi
Written work under 1,700 words
Multimedia under 15 minutes

Internship Opportunity- Savannah Magazine

Savannah Magazine and Skirt Magazine are seeking interns for spring and summer quarters.

The magazines are looking for interns for editorial, online, photography, administrative/advertising assistants and marketing/circulation- and it would be a total plus if it’s a photo intern who also knows how to do video.
They only do internships for credit.

Silver & Ink File Submission Information

IMPORTANT: When uploading files please double click on the folder with your username on it. This will enable the dropbox to accept files.

Please make sure you read and follow all submission guidelines for Silver & Ink. The submitted files, if selected, will be used for reproduction in the catalog. Each student may submit up to three entries. A new entry form should be filled out for each image that is submitted. They should be fully retouched and reflect as closely as possible the final exhibition print. Images must be flattened, uncompressed 8bit .tif files. Image resolution should be 300ppi and the longest dimension should be 10 to 12 inches, at most. Any submissions that do not follow the guidelines will not be considered.

Local Internship

Shannon Christopher Photography is looking for two candidates that wish to learn all aspects of running a wedding photography business. This internship involves the technical (training in proper lighting, composition and exposure) along with proper business practices (relationship building, selling you and an experience and understanding your value) that improve an artist’s chances to succeed long-term.

The interns will work primarily as assistants to Shannon during wedding and engagement shoots. This involves close interaction with all clients in high-energy situations. Intern candidates should have affable personalities with a mindset for achieving goals. Candidates will work 4-12 hours a week with most work being Saturdays and the occasional two hour weekday evening session. Monthly one on one meetings will be scheduled with Shannon for portfolio review, instruction and general questions regarding all aspects of the business. Intern may also arrange Shannon to be present as a resource for one of their personal shoots.
