Mary Virginia Swanson makes it her goal to help guide photographers towards the strengths in their work and to identify appreciative audiences for their prints, exhibitions, editorial and licensing placement. Swanson is considered an expert in the area of marketing and licensing fine art. Swanson currently works with photographers as a marketing consultant, and is a sought-after portfolio reviewer at events such as Review Santa Fe, Review LA, FotoFest, Photo Nola and PhotoLucida, among others. PhotoGroup Meeting Tuesday March 30th
First PhotoGroup meeting of Spring quarter will be held on Tuesday March 30th at 8pm in Bergen Hall rm 106.
Call for Entries - "The Lens Based Image" by Desotorow
Theme: A juried exhibition featuring mixed media works that are lens based and incorporate photography at any point in the process.
Eligibility: This juried exhibition is open to national and international artists (professional, emerging, and student).
Media/Genre: Open to works of all genres and media.
Guest Curator : Meryl Truett
Guest Curator Biography: Meryl Truett is a fine art and editorial photographer whose work is exhibited and collected nationwide. She graduated in 2003 with a Master of Fine Arts Degree in Photography from Savannah College of Art and Design with additional art training in France. She has received numerous awards including an Individual Artist Fellowship from the Tennessee Arts Commission. She was named one of Five Artists to Collect by the Savannah Morning News in 2007. Her work is in the permanent collections of Telfair Museum of Art/Jepson Center for the Arts, Vanderbilt University, the Morris Museum of Art and Savannah College of Art and Design.
Among the many publications featuring her photographs are: Art Papers, Darkroom Magazine, Petersen's Photographic, Camera Austria, Nashville Scene, Nashville Life, The Vanderbilt Review, Connect Savannah, Savannah Magazine, deep magazine, Skirt!, Atlanta Journal Constitution and Creative Loafing. A second printing of Thump Queen and Other Southern Anomalies, a book of fine art photographs depicting the quirkier side of southern living was released last year.
Entry Fee: You may submit up to three pieces for a non-refundable entry fee of $15. The entry fee may be paid online or with cash, check, or money order (checks and money orders should be made payable to DESOTOROW GALLERY).

The Camera Club of New York (CCNY) is pleased to announce an open call for applications for its Annual National Photography Competition. Photographers and photo–based artists working in any genre are eligible to apply. Applicants are encouraged to submit a cohesive body of work.

SPD Call for Entries
The Society of Publication Designers serves the community of editorial art directors, photo editors and designers. Each year, SPD sponsors a publication design competition that recognizes the best work done by professionals for magazines, newspapers and online publications. District Quarterly Calls for Entry
District Quarterly magazine call for entries
District Quarterly is currently seeking submissions for the spring issue. District Quarterly is a new, award-winning, student-produced magazine published through the Student Media Center at SCAD. The magazine features original work by SCAD students, including fiction, non-fiction, poetry, sequential art, illustration, painting, photography and more. The different works are combined by subject and theme to create a cohesive publication fall, winter and spring quarters each year.
The theme for the spring issue is materialism, and the deadline for submissions is Friday, March 26. Any current student at SCAD, undergrad or grad, may submit their work to be considered for publication in the magazine. The spring issue of District Quarterly is scheduled to launch near the end of April.
Submissions for the materialism-themed issue may be e-mailed to quarterly@scaddistrict.com by March 26.
