Teaching Opportunity in Saudi

Dima Schneider, Program Director for the Graphic Design Program at Dar Al Hekma College in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia is currently developing a School of Design and Architecture. She is currently working on a foundation year for all creative majors. The foundation year will be implemented Sep 2009.

She is looking for faculty with different backgrounds who could teach foundation studies, graphic design, photography, multimedia and animation.

MFA graduates are encouraged to apply, and the package includes housing in a compound, return flight and health insurance (no taxes). Please contact Dima for more information (contact below).

Dar Al Hekma is a private non-profit womens' college and the first of its kind in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. We have over 1000 students with 277 in the Graphic Design Department.

Wedding Photography Job Opportunity

Artist sues the A.P. over Obama image

In a pre-emptive strike, the street artist Shepard Fairey filed a lawsuit on Monday against The Associated Press, asking a federal judge to declare that he is protected from copyright infringement claims in his use of a news photograph as the basis for a now ubiquitous campaign poster image of President Obama.

The Associated Press objects to the use of a photo of Barack Obama by Mannie Garcia in a poster by Shepard Fairey.

The suit was filed in federal court in Manhattan after The Associated Press said it had determined that it owned the image, which Mr. Fairey used for posters and stickers distributed grass-roots style last year during the election campaign. The photo, showing Mr. Obama at the National Press Club in April 2006, was taken for The A.P. by a freelance photographer, Mannie Garcia.

SCAD SPE Scholarship Awards
