A collection of experimental and classical fashion photography images. Often referencing classical photography and art history, my work is multifaceted in content and subject, but never in vision or aesthetics. I gravitate towards the relationship of clothing and portraiture because I both enjoy and practice fashion photography from a styling perspective as well as from a photographic standpoint. Fashion has the power to enhance the viewing of the human body as both a sculptural entity and a form of art, which makes it fascinating to work with as an element of the photographic process.

Abby Cortright: Analog Sparks competition

SCAD Photography student, Abby Cortright,

Silver Winner in Fine Art/Still life

Wildflowers of Georgia is a still life of several different types of flowers found along roadsides and in the cracks of sidewalks. Inspired by the resilience, color, and beauty of these small blooms. They can not be found in grocery stores or flower shops, their beauty is kept to the small heap of soil it emerged from.

At the core of the "Analog Sparks Awards" beats a deep love for the art of analog photography in all its splendid forms. Our mission is clear: to champion exceptionally talented analog photographers like those we're celebrating today.
Every single photograph that graced our submissions was carefully assessed by our esteemed panel of professional judges. The outcomes were truly exceptional, with entries earning well-deserved prestigious titles and heartfelt honorable mentions from a pool of truly remarkable submissions.

Congratulations Abigail!!!

Sea of Ink: Savannah Maritime Tattoos will identify and explore tattooing along the Georgia coast.

Ships of the Sea will unveil Sea of Ink: Savannah Maritime Tattoos, an extraordinary exhibit showcasing the art and cultural significance of tattoos. Featuring more than a dozen Savannah-area tattoo artists and over 30 maritime tattoo collectors, Sea of Ink highlights tattoos as a meaningful art form and cultural movement.

With one-third of American adults having at least one tattoo, this visual language is rich for exploration. Sea of Ink presents the tattoo not just as body art, but as a powerful instrument for storytelling. Tattoos tell stories that often are deeply meaningful to the collector, and are a result of an artistic understanding between the tattoo creator and the collector.

Conceived by Molly Carrott Taylor

Curated by Tania Sammons

Experience the Exhibit:

  • Cultural Insight: Explore tattooing as a visual language and art form.

  • Artistic Appreciation: Admire the intricate designs and craftsmanship.

  • Stories: Learn about Savannah’s history of maritime tattooing.
