Atlanta- SCAD and ACP

Atlanta Celebrates Photography has amazing events about photography throughout the month of October. This weekend is the annual Portfolio Reviews and Walk. The Portfolio Walk Through event is open to the public. It is a terrific way to learn more about how these events are structured and to network with a broader community.

Aint-Bad Exhibition Oglethorpe Row Gallery
Join Aint-Bad Magazine for The American South exhibition in conjunction with Atlanta Celebrates Photography. We will be featuring work from over 75 artists, in addition to having magazines, prints, and books for sale.
Food and drinks will also be provided so come out for a night of Southern celebration!

This summer, the work featured in The American South has become a traveling exhibition, as Aint-Bad expands their reach throughout the Southeast to hone in on this region of the country. In June, a selection of submissions from our Issue No. 8 call for entry were exhibited at the 9/50 Southeast Arts Presenter's Summit at the Atlanta Contemporary Arts Center. Aint-Bad will host a premiere large scale exhibition at the following locations this Fall.

I spent a few wonderful days on our Atlanta campus last week. I really encourage students and faculty to take the opportunity to visit and enjoy the city experience and our sister campus.

I attended an artist reception for my exhibition at Gallery SEE and met with 50+ Atlanta campus students during the afternoon. The exhibition is up through October 16.

I enjoyed a lecture by visiting artist Sam Nhlengethwa in conjunction with his exhibition at Gallery 1600, “Life, Jazz and Lots of other Things.”

Sam Nhlengethwa spent two days working with the Atlanta print making department collaborating with students and faculty to produce a beautiful series of prints.

Photography students have a wonderful relationship with the printmaking department often choosing to earn an printmaking minor, to double major in printmaking spending a year on the Atlanta campus. or continuing their education and applying to the MFA in printmaking and earning a graduate degree moving from Savannah to Atlanta. Below are some pictures of the Atlanta printmaking department. For more information please contact the chair of printmaking Robert Brown, rtbrown@scad.edu

Internship at a local nonprofit organization called Deep (deepkids.com).

Attention Photography Students!
Internship at a local nonprofit organization called Deep (deepkids.com).
This internship serves as an especially great portfolio-building opportunity for portrait photographers. In January, the photos will be published in book alongside original poems and stories written by public middle school students in Savannah. We are taking applications now.
Here is a little bit more about the internship:
Each of Deep's photographers (2-3 per semester) produces portraits of 40-50 students, for publication in the student anthologies. Between October 6th and November 31st, photographers will visit workshops at public schools, between the hours of 2 and 5pm, to shoot photos of participating students. Must provide own transportation, photography and editing equipment. Video skills a plus.
Photography will also be featured in marketing tools and on the organization's website, at http://deepkids.com
Here is a little more about Deep: Deep is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that runs creative writing workshop for about 250 public middle school students every semester, and at the end, we publish their best work. We collaborate with local artists (illustrators, designers, photographers) to produce a beautiful, professional books of the student's work and portraits.
How to apply
Email your resume/bio with a link to your digital portfolio to writewithus@deepkids.com
