ENTER NOW Now accepting applications for Photography Now 2014,  the Center for Photography at Woodstock’s annual call for entries. Eight to ten photographers will be selected to be featured in the group exhibition in CPW’s gallery from April 5 – June 15, 2014.
This year CPW has invited Julie Grahame, publisher of aCurator online magazine and associated blog, to select the participating artists!
Additionaly one photographer will be selected for the Directors’ Purchase Prize in which a print is purchased for CPW‘s Permanent Print Collection, and each selected photographer will also receive a complimentary portfolio review on eyeist.com.
JUROR
Julie Grahame is the publisher of aCurator.com, a full-screen photography magazine, and the associated aCurator blog, named one of the ten best photo sites by the British Journal of Photography and one of Life.com’s top 20. She is also the editor for Photography&Architecture.com, and represents the Estate of Yousuf Karsh. Born in London, England, Julie emigrated in 1992 to manage the New York office of a photo syndication agency representing 400+ photographers and collections. She was production manager and editor for the online fashion magazine ZOOZOOM and worked as Associate Director of the contemporary gallery ClampArt. Julie is a portfolio reviewer, speaker, panelist and consultant. She is a member of American Society of Picture Professionals (ASPP) and American Photography Archive Group (APAG); she judges photography for various non-profits and is a contributing writer for Photo District News’ Emerging Photographer magazine.
ELIGIBILITY
CPW’s annual Photography Now exhibition celebrates the plurality of photography. From traditional to digital, all photographic techniques and approaches are welcome. Straight photography, fine art, narrative, documentary, landscape, social issues, still life, mixed media incorporating photography, photographic installations, and digital imaging and collages – are all eligible!
EXHIBITION
Selected artists will have their work exhibited in CPW’s gallery from April 5 – June 15, 2014.
PURCHASE PRIZE
One print by a photographer from the exhibition will be chosen and purchased for CPW’s Permanent Print Collection, held at the Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art at SUNY New Paltz. CPW’s Collection holds over 1,750 works of art by such program artists as Larry Fink, Robert Heiniken, David Maisel, Mary Ellen Mark, Lilo Raymond, and Steven Shore, amongst others!
TIMELINE
Results will be announced on February 17, 2014. Selected participants will be given instructions on how, when, and what to send for exhibition.
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
  • 6, 10, or 20 images (uploaded to CAFE specifications)*
  • Artist Statement (up to 2 pages) or Bio (up to 1 page)
  • Appropriate entry fee
  • Proof of eligibility for students and seniors (age 65 and up)
*Image upload instructions provided by CAFE once you are a registered user. Exhibition print sizes will not determine eligibility, however will be considered when selecting the number of framed pieces that will be included in the exhibition.

Oliver Uberti Lecture

A visual journalist, Oliver Uberti travels the world with a sketchbook in hand. From 2003-12, he worked in the design department of National Geographic, most recently as senior design editor. His designs, information graphics and art direction have garnered numerous international awards. Uberti specializes in book design, data visualization, branding and illustration. The lecture is free and open to the public.

The Society for Photographic Education will host their annual national conference in Baltimore, Maryland, March 6-9, 2014. One $500 scholarship will be awarded to an undergraduate and one $500 will be awarded to a graduate student to support student travel to this WONDERFUL event. ·      OPTIONAL: Short statement of how the conference will benefit your career (half a page or less), resume.
